Bonyeza Star Tv has unearthed a broad daylight robbery formulae used by Airtel vendors maiming the elderly Safaricom customers.Siaya residents have complained of a group of airtel vendors visiting homesteads and waylaying persons of the elderly group purporting to be selling lines ,only to end up stealing from them.
An elderly resident aged over 60 years complained of her Mpesa Account being run dry after she gave away her phone for line activation.
THE FORMULAR
The airtel vendor identifies an old person ,convinces him/ her to buy an airtel line.After the victim has given in they pretend to be fixing it in only to end up accessing their Mpesa details to wire money.
One weakness they exploit is that most aged persons use their year of birth as Mpesa Pin so as soon as they have your ID they have your details.
As for victim A they went through her Mpesa balance and realised she had Ksh17,000 balance.Then went through KCB Mpesa and borrowed another 17,000 and in the end wired Ksh33,000 to a Safaricom line of their choice.
This doesnt end here ,they ensure this one last thing is done.
The Message Barrier.The message barrier is activated to block the phone user from accessing Mpesa messages e.g account balance among other transactions.So sad.
Another elderly man also complained of his Ksh6,000 vanishing after an interaction with an airtel vendor in the same manner.
