A meeting recently
held at a prestigious local joint in Migori town saw estates get new code names with
local celebrities siting whole day to deliberate on names that will fit and
replace the old ones.
The meeting which was hosted by local musicians Lang’
Katalang’ and Crity together with Felo Mistari , Charly Toz, Jonnyman Music,KC Gloves, Ace
Mol, with a couple of djs, photographers ,dancers, models, young entrepreneurs and event’s organizers ,was attended by up to
30 youths from different estates in a bid to come up with the most desired
names .

They argued that the old names are no longer fashionable enough hence
things need to change with the changing trends.
The youths vowed to mount pressure on local leaders to
embrace the new names.
Below are the new names for Migori Town Estates according to
an email sent to Bonyeza Star on Friday August 10th 2018.
We have so far gone round asking other youths from the
region if they are comfortable with the new code names and turns out majority
are for the idea.
1) Lunya
The first estate that gives entry into town from Kakrao ,
formerly known as Onyalo will now be called Lunya ,a name crafted from its
original. Lunya youths enjoy the pinch of affordable housing especially pressing
hard on helpless landlords.

Beautiful ladies from Lunya however enjoy maximum
protection provided by their guyz, to keep away mafisi trying to poach from other estates. When
you stand at Lunya you can view the CBD very clearly.

Nana

This estate which has numerous beauty queens and renown
local celebrities like Felo Mistari the popular musician and radio presenter
was formerly known as Banana.

It comes with a couple of Hotels and other
investments including odipo Apartments and County Lodge Hotel.

Postarica
Posta will now be called Postarica. Self-explanatory . Posta
has quite a number of businesses going on. Also the Stadium is one reason this
estate has been made to sound sporty. Youths love to meet and have good time as
they follow evening games. Bansi Mall and Credex Hotel are some of the few
fancy buildings found here.

Makarao
Police line from the word police has been replaced with the sheng
version ‘Makarao’.This estate has a good number of government institutions
including Migori Police Station, prison and County government offices .
5)
Rome
This estate is where the Catholic Church and hospital are
situated and as you all know Rome has a huge stake in the church activities
thus the name Rome. Young Migorians from Ombo love to skate and take evening
walks. Rome is a quiet place.

Cardifonia

Kadika will now be called Cardifonia ,a name not far from its
original . This estate has beauties and hunks who love photo shoots mostly.
They host numerous photo-shoot sessions and parties considering party joints
are also here in good numbers. Cardifonia hosts calabash Hotel, Prime Waters
Hotel ,kadika Girls and Primary and many more. Events organizer Cash Money and
super photographer Steve Kawa ail from Cardifonia.

CBD

Town center starts at the bridge upto Migori Primary School .
CBD is the busiest town area with most youth spending most of their time either
at the Dream League Play Station and
printers on top of Shivling supermarket or better still Cool plaza where
everyone knows how to repair an electronic gadget including all types of phones
with no IT certificates at all. The CBD hosts Banks , supermarkets, hardwares, schools
,bus park and many more shops . Shukran and Zamzam electronics seem to give
phone accessory shops a run for their money here at the CBD .New Migori Hotel was the newest pilau palour until Sharwama came and took over
as new-bae for matatu operators and travelers

8} Pandi
Pand Pieri is a well-known former slum in Migori just behind
the CBD to the left, currently turning into a business hub with rich business
premises like Zaodon Furniture and Maroa
Hardware stores making good use of the space currently . Pandi is providing
more opportunities to the youth than any other place in this town in terms of
employment .if you need a brand new second hand iPhone at the price of a chewing gum you can
still try your luck here.Pandi hosts musician and video director Ace Mol.

9) Casablanca
Apida as it was formerly known has been branded Casablanca
due to its heavy entertainment activities. Otherwise as they say what happens
in Casablanca stays in Casablanca. We won’t mention a lot.My advice ,in
casablanca you either have muscles or butts for you to survive. Nothing more. You could as well
get a second hand phone from Pandi and lose it before you get to nyas if you
pass through Casablanca. Famous music producer Siri K of Sauti Records is also
based here.

10)
Nyas
Nyasare now known as Nyas borders Casablanca on the other side ,it is a
cool place to have your car washed at the lowest price.

a few features with Casablanca youths. however they are less complicated when
it comes to tricks required to teach
people what it means to live in town.Charly Toz comes from the farthest end of this estate away from town .

Baru
They used to say Baru or better known as Oruba was one
of the most dangerous places on planet
earth in terms of crime rate but currently Baru has transformed into a fashion
hub where young broke high school kids want to show off every morning to
evening .

Banyu
Speaking of danger ,Banyu could have toppled Baru. The
brewing of illicit brew is still a common activity here hence the reason behind
police running battles with the middle age each and every day. Youths from
Banyu however have grown to be the brightest and most active when it comes to
matters social media dominance. They seemed to have learnt the hard way hence
difficult to put down .Banyu is the former Nyangubo. A lot still needs to be
done here though. Popular local artiste Jonny Man Music ails from here.Including Tingting and Rojay C.

DP
Deep is where the main market is, usually congested during market days . One could leave deep with
a shoe as cheap as toothbrush if you
went to the market very early on a Monday or Friday mornings .Sometimes a pair
of shoes can cause issues here especially when two different customers settle
on same shoe , each holding one leg. Youths from DP love cheap classy stuff hence
the reason they change their whatsap Display Pic every second. DP boasts of great
fashion designers like Collins Gideon who have dressed the who’s and who’s in
kenya’s Showbiz today .

Republic
College Inn has for a long period been called republic, a
name which was crafted by Fountain Records producer Collo Mzima back then when
the recording stable first stepped foot there. Its known to have basketball
lovers who used to spend most of their evenings at the TTC basketball cot. Republican youths are
notorious for swimming in River Migori.
15)
Giks
Guyz from Giks ,also known as Wuoth Ogik are known to be the best when it
comes to kufisi madem. They love politics and football with a large section of
Manchester United fans also ailing from here. Giks is slowly turning into a
hoteliers hub with investors developing
the estate at a very fast rate. Computer geniuses like Odongo ‘Ndiez’ Ouso and
the late philanthropic politician Obala Tinga identify well with Giks. Danaco
Studios is based in Giks .
16)
Lotto
Lotto, formerly known as Total used to be a hub of punks and
beauty queens until other estates started to take over , but unfortunately they
haven’t succeeded yet. This estate is up to date considered the richest and
most secure. Rich men like Zam Zam,Salah, Junet, John Pesa, Owino Likowa have history
with this hood .Total is also the place where the two local artistes Crity and Lang katalang’ were
born and raised ,not forgetting the popular political Scientist Orang’ Otang’
better known as Byron Ouko without failing to mention Bavon Opudo and his fleet
of cars .

Dala
Dallas ,now Dala depending on your pronunciation has the
highest gates like the walls of Jericho .In Dala neighbors don’t get to see
each other and if they do then it’s through video calls .Nothing brings these
guys together .The quietness of Dala is
still a mystery to date. The few beautiful queens living in rental homes could
be the only reason sponsors can be seen dropping by time to time.dala rentals
are however as expensive as the place sounds.

Hang’i
Bendera Tatu,now
Hang’i is known for evening stop overs and gatherings for youths .Hot Samosas
and Bajias are the only reasons youths
get to be seen only in the evenings for a short time before they disappear
back into their houses again. Hangi has
the now famous Florence Hotel which is the main stop over for weekend swimming
hangout . Hangi comes from the word hangout

Dice
Midas is another quiet and scarcely populated area though it
has a few investments done by the Asian Migorians .Maranatha Church is in Dice.
Nubians also stay in this estate.
20)
Mbana
Namba Junction now known as Mbana is a busy area being the
round about linking Sirare,Muhuru bay and kehancha . Mbana is fond of Mutura
lovers and revelers of the popular Lake Junction Resort,Antel Mara and Simba
Beach Hotel for the rich.
21)
Gamblino.
Osaka , now known as Gamblino hosts a good number of chini
ya maji businesses ,gamblers with school skivers opting to spend their time
inside the gamblino movie halls. The
Kitoko, ndovu and waya are the only meals youths from here recognize as
the only staple foods. At gamblino sofa sets are made within 5 minutes and sold
like sukuma wiki .This is the only place they cannot give you someone’s
identity without the owners permission.Police think twice before they invade
this place.

Kima One
Kimadui which was named after the famous Kisii business mogul
Mzee Kimadui is basically a fresh water point to date for Migori West
residents. Almost all youths got their first girlfriends during their early
days of going to fetch water here. Kima One has Josi Car Wash and many more
employment ventures that have helped the youth earn a living from time memorial.At
Kima One you may risk losing a wife in the name of going for water.Youths from
Kima One love to idle at the rails poaching beautiful ladies from Lotto .
23)
Kima Two
Kimaiga is undoubtedly one of the most popular areas in
Migori with the likes of Salah Bakery having started here.Five star,Alexis
Hotel ,Kimaiga House,National Oil,Hillview Hotel are some of the few ventures
here. Super music producer GKV has his stable Chuo Records operating from Kima Two.
