Maseno University students
elections came to an end last evening after a peaceful and very sober campaign
period .However the campaigns this time are said to have undergone numerous
twists to the point it became difficult to predict the end results with all the
presidential aspirants showing signs of carrying the day.
At some point one of
the aspirants Haron Palo had to step down in favor of Fred Makajos, a move that
prompted other presidential aspirants, Gideon Wafula and Mike Odoyo to up their
game. It turns out Fred Makajos would still have the presidency pinned to his
name owing to the fact that Zagazaga team wasn’t going to let things happen the
other way round .From my point of view the Luo block at the main Campus and the
entire City Campus block were a major stepping stone to Makajos triumph that is
of course with the contribution of other ethnic backgrounds like the Kikuyus,
Kalenjins and part of the Luhyas.
Nairobi University
president Babu Owino and Former University President Charlow Juma are among
those who welcomed the president elect aboard after serious and vigorous backup
from the two during the entire campaign period.

entire team won the elections executive positions .

Unlike in previous cases
where we did had students resorting to violence after
disputed elections results ,this time
round the Maseno University student body have shown their utmost maturity and
respect for the university property by maintaining peace and calmness and not
vandalism .However the University administration and area police ensured there
was adequate security to prevent repetition of such an occurrence .All in all
the weekend might serve as a healing period to those who were not lucky enough to have their place in the next SOMU as the
elected leaders expect their swearing in
this coming Monday most likely. That doesn’t mean the end of a political career
for others but a bridge to the next political and responsible life .Remember we
are all winners just one at a time.
Meanwhile a section of the opposition feel the Makajos
regime might be a continuation of a goonship regime like they claimed during the Charlow Juma era which to me doesn’t add up since Charlow was
simply a no nonsense president and a non partisan to gagging by the
administration. A good number believe their rights as students
will be championed by the bold president ,Makajos .
President Makajos is
getting into SOMU at a time when housing is a major problem hence he is up to
task to ensure that more investors are lured towards finding a common solution
to this problem. Am told he intends to scrap off the 10-10 rule, a move that
might not see the light of the day owing to the delicate nature of the matter
.Anyway Makajos might have promised you guys heaven at the onset of his journey
but am advising that you all work together towards these accomplishments.
These
are some of the reactions from a section of the students body, aspirants former executive and friends of SOMU
Congrats Makajoss.I will come for
the Odm rally tomorrow.Tibim

Morning comrades. It's a fine
Saturday morning full of mixed feelings as is expected which really is part of
life. In every competition there are only two expected outcomes, either a win
or a lose. I take this opportunity to congratulate all the victors in the
election, it's a job well done. A big thank you to all the students for making
sacrifices in during this period. Fowards ever, backwards never. God bless
Maseno University.
