THE MOST UNTIDY KENYAN MEN UNDER THE SUN

By Omondi Okumu

Whereas article 43 (1) b of the constitution of Kenya guarantees reasonable standards of sanitation , serious cases of general insanity remain a setback at the family level , occupation
corridors or avenues and other social joints. Men are to a big extend naturally careless .There are numerous clusters of general filth in men

: (1) Public Drivers , Touts and Turn boys

This class of persons have no time for hygiene .They seldom spend in their homes. They dwell in bus stops roadside hotels and surprisingly in garages.

 (2) Part time lecturers Today ,

sanity is coming home among these members but still it is a chimera. Seven years ago a majority of them were certified professors who had no time for their conditions since they were deeply entrenched in serious businesses. One lecturer had five classes in a day and in different varsities. They lived a nomadic and casual life. Currently , the habit is endless since aluta continua.

 (3) Boda boda operators Popularly the worst. This group doesn't recognise toothbrushes , hander kerchief , tissue paper and supplementary clothing. They hide in manufactured helmets and reflectors when indeed they are as dirty as a dump site (the dump site at Kachok in Kisumu).

(4) Mechanics Mechanics often claim that the nature of the work they do keeps them dirty. That's true however , not defendable. A mechanic will always take refuge in false explanation when indeed even the hair is unkempt , teeth tainted due to continuous use of the teeth in cutting wires when tools are available. Mechanics are full time oily , black and rough in the skin. When will they use the little cash they get ? The least earning casual workers are the hawkers but fairly simple and clean. The hawkers have rich public relations too.

(5)Members of outside catering services They cook in open air and often interact too much .They greet everybody and manage a nomadic life. For them they use water during cooking and nowhere else. They also meet water in soups.
